Public Records
By law, under the Inspection of Public Records Act, every person has
the right to inspect public records of the Village of Tijeras (VOT).  The
Act also makes compliance with requests to inspect public records an
integral part of the routine duties of the officers and employees of the
Village of Tijeras

Requests to Inspect Public Records should be submitted to the
Secretary, Deputy Clerk or Clerk Treasurer located at the Tijeras
Village Hall, #12 Camino Municipal, Tijeras, NM 87059; Phone: (505)
281-1220; Fax: (505) 281-0948.  Citizens may request to inspect public
records verbally or in written form using the VOT Public Records
Request Form available at the reception desk.  Procedures and
penalties described by the Inspection of Public Records Act only apply
to written requests.  Written Requests must include the name,
address and phone number of the person making the request, as well
as a description of the record sought in sufficient detail to enable the
VOT staff to identify and located the requested records.

The Village of Tijeras must permit inspections as soon as practicable,
but no later than fifteen (15) calendar days after VOT staff receives the
inspection request.  If the VOT is not permitted within three (3)
business days, the person making the request will receive a written
response explaining when the records will be available for inspection
or when the public body will respond to the request.  If any of the
records sought are not available for public inspection, the person
making the request is entitled to a written response from the VOT
explaining the reason the inspection has been denied within fifteen
(15) days of the request.

If a person requesting inspection would like a copy of a public record,
a reasonable fee may be charged.  The fee for documents is $0.25 per
page.  The fee for archived documents is $1.00 per page.  The Village
of Tijeras may request that applicable fees for copying public records
be paid in advance, before the copies are made.  A receipt indicating
that the fees have been paid for making copies of public records will
be provided upon request.

Public Records may be requested in an email transmission.  To
request public records by email, send request to the Village Clerk,
